Nearly Perfect, December 7, 2011 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: ASUS A53E-AH51 15.6-Inch Versatile Entertainment Laptop (Black) (Personal Computers) I was looking for a laptop to replace my ill-fated macbook pro for graphic design work. I searched around a long time and decided on this because of it's nice specs and low price. I am surprised by this laptop. It has aluminum paneling around the keyboard which acts as a heat sink (the rest is plastic), something you normally only find in high end laptops, most laptops have plastic paneling. Because of this aluminum, ASUS didn't need loud high powered fans. This laptop is QUIET.
This laptop sports a Pentium i5 2.4ghz processor, while other laptops at this price point only have i3's. It also has a usb 3.0 port, which is nice. The rest of the specs are pretty on par with others in it's price range. It has a chiclet style keyboard which is very comfortable and the keys click in a satisfying way. It is fairly quick but not blazing. I do like Asus's protection guarantee and its software updates. The touch pad is very sensitive and takes some getting used to. It is not a gamer and should not be purchased for that. My wife and I are retired. We do internet, spreadsheets and documents and that is about all. It works great for that.
